Anti-Aging Phenomenon Culminates Broad Accomplishments in 2001 at Ninth International Congress on Anti-Aging and Biomedical Technologies

DECEMBER 27, 2001 / CHICAGO, IL Convening a three-day event at which the world's leading researchers and clinicians met in a forum of educational exchange to share their latest discoveries and observations that, ultimately, will help each of us live longer and better lives, the Ninth International Congress on Anti-Aging and Biomedical Technologies was held December 14-17, 2001 in Las Vegas.
Anti-aging medicine, a medical specialty founded on the application of advanced scientific and medical technologies for the early detection, prevention, treatment, and reversal of age-related diseases, is at the forefront of preventive medical care for this century and beyond. It is a healthcare model promoting innovative science and research to prolong the healthy lifespan in humans. As such, anti-aging medicine is based on principles of sound and responsible medical care that are consistent with those applied in other preventive health specialties.
Remarks Dr. Ronald Klatz, President of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), educational underwriters of the Ninth International Congress, "The benefits of anti-aging medicine are resounding and clear. As a global population, we are experiencing leaps in life expectancy, decreases in death rates from the leading causes of death (heart disease, cancer, and stroke), and -- in the United States, we are seeing a decrease in the use of nursing home care. Most importantly, the accessibility to quality medical care is improving. Our analysis is supported by data generated by the U.S. Federal Interagency Forum on Aging Related Statistics [www.agingstats.gov/chartbook2000. Clearly, anti-aging medicine has made a distinct impression on evolving healthcare to the betterment for the public at-large."
Dr. Klatz continues, "While at the Ninth International Congress, the 1,800 attendees came from different medical training backgrounds, have different focuses in our clinical practices or research efforts, and hail from points all across the globe -- we, the members of the A4M, are all united in a single pursuit: to eradicate the debilitating and disabling diseases of aging within the next 30 years. " Attendees listened acutely as forty world-renowned speakers lectured on topics including stem cell technology, high-tech diagnostics, immune function, hormone replacement, and other cutting-edge medical topics.
In 2001, the physician and scientist members of the A4M made great strides in the application of advanced scientific and medical technologies for the early detection, prevention, treatment, and reversal of age-related diseases. The A4M expects the momentum of this year to propel A4M in 2002 into the forefront of attention in the medical sector, gaining widespread recognition by the general public, media outlets, as well as among physicians, health practitioners, scientists, and academics.
A featured event in 2002, the First Asia Pacific Conference and Exhibition on Anti-Aging Medicine will take place in Singapore 23-26 June 2002. The program theme is "From Molecular Mechanisms to Therapies," and is sponsored by distinguished supporters including the Singapore National Science and Technology Board, the Biomedical Research Council of Singapore, the National University of Singapore, and the A4M.
